Filling
1cupsugar
1tablespooncinnamon
2teaspoonsnutmeg
1/2teaspooncloves
2tablespoonlemon juice
2tablespoonsall-purpose flour
8-10medium ApplesGranny Smith, Honeycrisp or Pink Lady varieties
Crumb Topping
1/2cupbrown sugar
1/2cupall-purpose flour
1/4cupoats
6tablespoonssalted butter
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Make recipe for pie dough (pate brisee).
Filling
While the dough is chilling, peel and core your apples and cut into small pieces.
Combine the apples, lemon juice, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Roll out dough and cut in circles that will fit inside mason jars. Press the dough into the jars.
Fill the dough-lined jars with filling just to top.
Crumb Topping
Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter. Add in oats and stir to combine.
Top each jar with crumb topping. Place jars on a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. When the pies cool, the filling will settle. Can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days. Or cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
