Simple Decorating Ideas for The Summer
2020 has been somewhat of a crazy year for everyone. But the one thing that I have taken away from the year so far is that less is more. So, you will see that my summer decorating style has evolved to be simpler and less cluttered.
I tend to always pare down my decorations during the summer months. The longer days, more time spent outside and warmer weather leave me wanting less visual clutter indoors.
If you missed my previous summer decor tours, you can check them out here.
Summer Kitchen Styling Ideas
Summer is all about sunshine, warm weather, time spent outdoors and a cleaner looking home indoors. Here are my go-to summer kitchen decorating ideas.
Use Everyday Items As Decor
When we originally designed our kitchen with these long floating shelves I was worried about dust collecting on the items. The best way I keep the shelves clean (other than weekly dusting) is by storing everyday items on them.
Our kitchen shelves hold our everyday dishes, napkins, cups and baking supplies. We are constantly using everything that sits on these shelves.
I also like to keep the eggs from our backyard chickens in a bowl on the counter. I love seeing the variety of color and texture.
Easy Summer Decor: Flowers and Greens
In summer, one of the easiest decorating ideas is to use greenery and flowers. Not only are flowers easy to find in the summer months, but they instantly add a dose of happy summer vibes to your decor.
Whether you are cutting blooms from your yard or buying them on your weekly grocery run, I love the organic feel they add to the kitchen in the summer months.
Kitchen Gallery Wall and Den Area
On the other side of our kitchen we recently created this den area with two swivel chairs, a Frame TV and this curated gallery wall.
You can see more pictures and details of how I planned and designed the gallery wall here:
And you can see I added a Peace Lily plant to our kitchen table because sometimes that’s all you need for summer. Greenery or flowers instantly add a fresh, organic feel to the space.
